Why the name 'Mariposa'?
Vayden Anderson, retired Overland Lake developer, viewed an aerial shot of the area and imagined that the lakes resembled the wings of a butterfly. 'Mariposa', Spanish for butterfly, and its transformation from an empty field into a beautiful lake resort, closely parallels the metamorphosis of a butterfly.
Here at Mariposa Lake, we celebrate these winged works of art by naming our drives, trails and beaches in their honor.
- Silverline Drive
- Meadow Brown Trail
- Blue Adonis Drive
- Emerald Beach
- Sapphire Beach
- Pearl Crescent Beach
- Paper Kite Park
- Palamedes Park
- Red Admiral Drive
- Woodwhite Drive
- Great Spangled Drive
- Little Copper Cove
